Book Reviews of "Will you carry me?"

I was born in 1960 in Bussum, a small town in the center of Holland in a family with two brothers and one sister. During my school days I was already drawing a lot (teachers often kicked me out of the classroom when they found out I was making cartoons of  them...).

I live in Amsterdam and have two children: Jip (my son) and Mirre (my daughter).

When they were young I made drawings in their classes on the chalkboard.

At  first I studied to become a nurse, a profession I loved and worked in for twenty-five years.

During  my night shifts as a community nurse, between visits,  I would sketch and make innumerable drawings on every piece of paper I could get a hold on. The dream of illustrating children's books grew more and more.

In 2001 Zirkoon Publishers offered me the first opportunity to realize that dream.

I love drawing pictures - on paper with watercolor, pen and ink - with the main character in action, while many little funny animals and puppets react and interact amongst themselves, thus inhabiting a world of their own. It's a brand new place to be and children love to visit it!

It's amazing how children see small details much faster than adults.

I also love painting pictures on walls and furniture.
